Born at Mount St. Patrick to Albert and Susan (nee Blimkie), Marina graduated as a registered nurse from the Lorraine School of Nursing in 1955. She married Michael (Mac) Foran of Eganville in 1959. Mac and Marina had a long and happy life together until Mac’s death in 2009. Their children, David (Susan Van Bakel), Judy, Jayne (Krish Menon) and her adored grandchildren, Michael Foran and Kelly Foran survive Marina.
Marina is also survived by her siblings Greg (Angeline), David, Millie Collins, Charlie (Rita), Mac’s aunt Hilda Walsh (Lynch) and her sister in laws Norma Coulterman, Sister Margaret Foran, Mildred Jeffrey, Patricia Aubichon (Terry), Irene Dooling (Tim) and Dallas Foran. She was predeceased by her siblings Frank, Donald, Ray, Mamie, Sister Leona, Marjorie Heroux, Anna Mary Drumm, Bernard, Cyril, sister in law Lillian Foran and brothers in law Lorne Foran and Harry Jeffrey.
Marina was well known in the community as a nurse with the Victorian Order of Nurses and later as its Home Support Coordinator. She was involved with numerous church and community initiatives, generously giving of her time and talents. Marina was also a founding member of the Eganville & District Senior Needs Association. In 2012, Marina was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of her significant contributions to the community.
Marina will be missed throughout the Ottawa Valley and especially in Eganville and Lake Clear, where she and her family spent many happy summers. She loved music and received immense pleasure singing in the St. James Choir as well as a member of the Red Hatters. Marina enjoyed playing bridge, watching curling and following the Expos and Blue Jays but will be remembered most for her passion for playing euchre.
Marina was a remarkable woman whose core beliefs were deeply rooted in her faith. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a cherished member of the Coulterman and Foran families who loved her deeply. She had a most fulfilling life - a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, a kind and caring nurse and an outstanding member of her community. Marina made life better for so many people - the essence of a truly successful woman who never forgot her humble Mount St. Patrick roots.
