Gerald "Gerry" Scheer passed away suddenly on Monday, July 30th at the age of 68. A lifetime resident of Eganville, Gerry leaves behind his dear wife Suzanne (Stack), his children Benjamin (Silvia), Emily and Luke, and his cherished grandchildren Henry and Mabel.
Gerry is survived by his mother Mabel Saar (Kreuger), his brother-in-law Stephen Seigel and niece Laurie Seigel (Jim). He was pre-deceased by his father Verner Scheer, nephew Christopher Seigel, and sister Elaine Seigel.
Gerry was an uncle to many nieces and nephews, and will be dearly missed by the extended members of the Stack family and all his Scheer/Kreuger/Saar relatives, all of whom benefited from his love of history and longtime research into the family tree.
Gerry spent over 30 years working with the Ministry of Natural Resources, most of those years based out of the office in Dacre,Ontario, and finishing his career in Pembroke, Ontario. Gerry spent his retirement working the land on his Fourth Chute farm, nurturing acorns to oaks, tinkering with tractors, and walking his spirited dog, Fletcher. Gerry valued family and home above all, and his quick wit and thoughtful nature were appreciated by everyone who knew him.
Visitation will be held at the Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville on Thursday, from 2-4pm and from 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church, Eganville on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Nature Conservancy of Canada, in memory of Gerry, online at www.zohrfuneralhome.com
