Kranz, Barbara Passed away peacefully with family by her side at Hospice Renfrew, on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at the age of 81. Loving wife of the late Harold Kranz. She leaves to mourn her birth son, Steve Rheault, and her daughter Kimberly Laforest (Mario Briski), her grandsons Liam and Rogan Laforest as well as Aiden and Bowie Rheault. Barbara will be fondly remembered by Gerry Laforest as well as her sisters Maureen (Moon) Power, Jane Zohr and Joanne Hoelke as well as her brothers Dermott, Jon, Mark and Shaun. She is the oldest daughter of the late Leo & Ellen O'Reilly and is also predeceased by her brother Brian, and sisters Erin Sadler and Sharon O'Reilly.
Barbara was a teacher with the Renfrew County Board of Education for 35 years, and taught at Sherwood Public in Barry's Bay, Round Lake Centre, Killaloe Public and Eganville District Schools. When she retired in 1994, she and Harold took up hobby farming on the Kranz family farm where they had Highland cattle and a great garden! They retired from farming and became winter snowbirds in Labelle, Florida where they made more new friends and had many laughs over the years.
Friends may call at Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville on Boxing Day from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 11am, St. John's United Church, Golden Lake. Spring interment will be in the Golden Lake United Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Barbara can be made to Hospice Renfrew, online at and would be greatly appreciated by the family.

I am proud to say that Mrs Kranz was my grade 7 and 8 teacher at Sherwood Public in Barry’s Bay. She was an OUTSTANDING teacher who truly cared about all of her students. She rode at the back of the bus for field trips and always led us in song to old tunes like “They built the ship Titanic “ just to make the trips go by quickly and to prove that everyone could infact sing.
We were her kids. When she was your teacher she was firm but fair and we all knew that she had our backs.
I dropped by to say hello a few years back on one of my trips back home to the Bay and I’m so glad that I did. It was a real treat to see her and talk to her. She still had that special flair of hers. A quick drop by ended up lasting a few hours, delaying my trip back to my home and worried husband in Ottawa. We just had so much material to cover and it’s a fond memory that I will always treasure.
To Kim and the rest of Barbara’s family, I offer you all my deepest sympathy but know full well that Mrs. Kranz was one of a kind who enriched every single child’s life that she touched. My she Rest In Peace now that she is with her beloved Harold again.

Mrs Kranz was one of my elementary teachers and I have many wonderful memories of her. Many that still make me smile. One that sticks out is in an attempt to get the attention of a few students who weren't paying attention, she took off her shoe and threw it against a window and said "Do I have your attention now?". May you rest in peace Mrs Kranz.

My heartfelt sympathies to all Barb's family and friends. She had such panache. Oh how I will miss Barb - the good natured banter, drives in the Mustang, planning and decorating the Mustang and ourselves for Springfest, your birthday parties at Amigos and Beer, just being silly and especially our nightly catch-ups after walking Jack - I'll get the light!!

Rest in peace, dear friend, Ruth Kellam
