Irwin was my mother's first cousin. I'm sorry to say I never met Irwin nor heard him play the fiddle but I had heard these stories of him since moving to Douglas. I wished I had. If I could hear of when the Mass is I'd really appreciate it!

John Madigan

Throughout the Valley many will have fond memories of Irwin and his fiddle playing. Over many years he accompanied various bands, playing at different hotels - Golden Lake, Douglas, Renfrew, and Pembroke - and at numerous wedding receptions, parties and special occasions.
He also had a giftedness for refurbishing used cars. His honesty and generosity brought him many returning customers looking for a reliable used vehicle.
We were all astonished when, well into his 70's, he bought a laptop computer and spent countless hours learning how to convert some of his old cassette tapes to digital files.
Educators tell us gifted kids demonstrate a high degree of personal ethics, social skills, curiosity, varied interests and a keen sense of fairness and justice. If they had had a gifted program back in Irwin's school days, he would have surely been in it.

Ken Ramsden

I have fond memories of meeting Irwin in the late 1970's when my Peterborough based band would play spots around the Valley, and I had a few good times jamming with Irwin and Butch Cybulsky on Butch's porch. Irwin, like his friend Butch will be missed. Ken Ramsden.
